I am writing an acoustic song. Yes.
I found a mike that my Dad uses for voice overs and I plugged into my brother's laptop and voila, recording studio! I'm editing it all on garage band which is so simple any amateur could use it. Which is great because I am such an amateur in need of idiot proof software to help guide my creative endeavors. Hooray!
I'm liking it so far. It a simple acoustic melody on an Open D tuned guitar.
Here are some lyrics.
Take me to the river that flows
Bury me beneath and wash my soul
I know all the places to get what I don't need
How I dream, I dream
To see
That's all folks!
Music has always been an important outlet for me. There's just something about it that brings me right before God. I have a soul of worship you might say, that's touched deeply by the spirit of music. Have you ever heard a really honest lyric that just tore you up? I was listening to Adele just the other day and this one line stuck with me, "I guess she gave you things I couldn't give to you." How tragic and true. That feeling of unworthiness is the heartbeat in every human being. Now really good music blends the honesty of the brokenness of living with the hope of new life in the mercy of God. That is my intention with my music. To be honest about our fear while confronting it, to be true to the humanity that connects us all while glorifying the God that draws us to redemption. Oh that word redemption. Doesn't it just move your spirit? No word is more beautiful. Thank you Jesus for grace and the overwhelming power you possess to draw us back to Your heart. I couldn't be more grateful for this God.
They say words create, I think music tells the story. Where words give you a picture music gives it color. Music reveals because it's old and honest. I'm excited to create but mostly just to listen.
Sincerely,
Jaelle the Worshipper.
